A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR

The documentary “Love on Trial”, chronicles my personal journey over an 18 year period as I navigated the unnecessarily complex, costly and disruptive family law system to establish access and visitation rights with my son. While this story unfolded many years ago, my personal experience remains relevant today not only to the many individuals that are trying to make sense of the system as they manage issues of separation, divorce and managing the best interests of their children in the midst of change and adjustment but also acts as an illustrative example of the importance of trying to avoid similar circumstances altogether by focusing on building healthy and sustainable relationships.

The primary purpose of this movie, however, is not to tell my personal story, but the but the hope that the many perspectives shared in the documentary will help young people and families see the importance of nurturing healthy relationships—and to highlight the need for a family law system that supports them with accessible, child-focused ways to resolve conflict when relationships do break down.
