Covid-19 Updates

Children Activities

With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting everyday life, we thank you for your continued support. At Children Now, we have been faced with new challenges and have been working tirelessly to continue serving our communities and those in need as best we can. The health and safety of the children and communities we aid remain paramount, and as such, we’ve made necessary modifications to our programming that we’d like to share with you.

UPCOMING Easter Party 2022: Similar to last year’s version, we have made modifications to our annual Easter Parties in order to ensure the safety of everyone. We will be going directly to the schools and turning their gymnasiums into Easter Wonderlands. However, rather than the virtual approach we did for last year’s Easter show, the children will be able to come to the gymnasium and experience Easter in all its splendor! This method was carried out for our 2021 Christmas Show in Montreal and Quebec, and much to our delight, the event was an absolute success. It gave the children an opportunity to forget the challenges of everyday life, especially during this pandemic and allowed them to fully immerse themselves in a wonderfully surreal experience.

Christmas Show 2021: We have made modifications to our annual Christmas Shows in order to ensure everyone’s safety. Rather than hosting the event in a hotel’s ballroom as we usually do, we are going directly to the schools and turning their gymnasiums into Winter Wonderlands.

Summer Camps 2021: This year, we are inviting 128 underprivileged children to participate in our summer camps at the incredible camp Domaine Scout St-Louis-France. The camps will take place in small groups of 16 to 25 children, which will be further divided into groups of 8 children, and will take place throughout the months of June, July, and August. Last summer, camps were not able to accommodate overnight stays so we adjusted by providing daily transit permitting the children to return to the camp for a multi-day getaway. We are thrilled that this year, the children will be able to stay overnight for three full days, thanks to the dedication and perseverance of Domaine Scout St-Louis France to ensuring the safety of their camp operations!

Easter Party 2021: We have made modifications to our annual Easter Parties in order to ensure everyone’s safety. Rather than hosting the event in a hotel’s ballroom as we usually do, we are going directly to the schools and turning their gymnasiums into Easter Wonderlands. Additionally, as per current safety guidelines, the shows will be entirely virtual. To ensure an interactive experience, a projector will be installed in the gymnasium so that the animators can both hear and see the children in real time. Similarly, the children will also be able to see the show from their respective classrooms thanks to the use of smart boards. This method was carried out for our 2020 Christmas Show in Montreal, and much to our delight, the event was an absolute success. Moreover, given that we were only able to host the Easter Party for some of the children sponsored last year, in addition to the two new schools being sponsored, we will bring the Easter Party to the two other schools that did not yet get the chance to participate.

Snow Camps 2021: *UPDATED FEBRUARY 17 2021* With our Snow Camps approaching ever so quickly, we could not be more delighted to share incredible news with you. We had previously announced modifications to our annual Snow Camps to ensure the safety of those participating. One of those modifications involved providing daily transportation for the children to return for a second day because camps were not providing overnight accommodations during this time. However, the Camp Domaine Scout St-Louis-de-France have just received news that they will now be able to accommodate the children overnight for a 3 day winter camp!

Of course, this has been made possible due to the camp’s rigorous health and safety plan. Therefore, a total of 16 children will participate per weekend and will be separated into two groups of eight during the entire weekend. The camps will take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as of March 12 and will run until all the sponsored children have participated. Since they will be staying overnight, the children will be receiving three plentiful meals daily and the evening campfires will make a grand return!

We can’t thank you enough, our faithful donors and partners, for your continued support in aiding the children of your community during these trying times. The opportunity for the children to escape the stresses of day-to-day life so that they may experience a three day winter camp is surreal for them, now more than ever. Thank you.

Christmas Show 2020: We have made modifications to our annual Christmas Shows to ensure everyone’s safety. Rather than holding the event in a hotel’s ballroom as we usually do, this year, we are going directly to the schools and turning their gymnasiums into Christmas wonderlands. In prior years, the event would take place over two full days. However, due to the safety implications of having hundreds of children in the same room during the pandemic, we will instead hold many shows over the course of 4 days so that everyone involved can enjoy Christmas in the safety of small groups.

Summer Camp 2020: As summer camps are unable to accommodate children over night during this time, we are partnering with day camps to provide a multiple day getaway for the children that have been sponsored. To do that, we will be providing daily transit so that the children may return for multiple days, allowing them to live out their summer adventures as originally intended. The camps will take place during the first 2 weeks of August at the Domaine Scout St-Louis-France for the children of Montreal, Trois-Riviere and Quebec City. Children aged between 10 and 12 will take part in a multitude of activities supervised by experienced camp leaders: swimming, canoeing, mountain excursions, obstacle courses, nature hiking, treasure hunts, and more. Of course, they will also experience great meals and snacks daily. Moreover, throughout their stay, the children will receive many gifts that they will be able to use all summer long. Thanks to the generous help of our donors and sponsors, the gifts they will receive include; clothes, sleeping bags, books, sunscreen, bug spray, shampoo, toothbrushes, soccer balls, toothpaste and more.

Easter Party 2020: In accordance with the distancing rules implemented by the government to avoid further spread of the virus, we made adjustments to our annual Easter Party. Instead of bringing together 700 underprivileged children of Montreal and Quebec, we have coordinated directly with the Schools to bring Easter directly to them! As a result, instead of having 2 major parties, 1 for each city, we are organizing one at every participating school and early childhood center (CPE). On June 25th, 2020, we made history, we carried out our first Easter Party in the month of June at the CPE Passe-Partout and CPE Jardin Bleu in Quebec City. We look forward to sharing with you the photos and videos we captured of this dream day and what these children experienced! Given that the schools are in the process of adapting with how to best operate during a pandemic, we have decided to resume the Easter party in the months of September and October for the remaining schools of Montreal and Quebec. As for now, photos and videos of the Easter Party’s organized to date can be found on our website and Facebook page in the coming days! Stay tuned.
