Snow Camp

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine a beautiful winter landscape in one of the prettiest regions of Quebec; a dream-like setting with mountains, trees covered in snow and fresh air. That is exactly what you can offer to children from underprivileged areas who only see asphalt and concrete day after day, season after season! These youngsters can only dream of escaping the city for a few days to discover and fully appreciate winter's pleasures as most fortunate children do.

The Snow Camp represents an opportunity for underprivileged children to make new friends, breathe fresh air and gather precious memories from this stay. More than ever, children need our help for guidance toward a better future. During this camp, we give the children winter clothing such as boots, scarves, hats, mittens and a sleeping bag to keep them warm all winter long. All these items as well as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, books, games and more will be given to them during their stay thanks to the help our generous sponsors.

This winter camp is a fun and educational way for underprivileged children to experience what privileged children do on a regular basis. For three days, more than 150 children will have fun in nature doing activities that are sure to satisfy their need for adventure and fresh air. The children, aged between 10 and 12, will have a memorable time lodged in an extraordinary rural setting with beautiful facilities. They will receive three hot meals and snacks daily. Their stay will be filled with fun activities that many will be experiencing for the first time such as tubing, skating, sledding, playing broom ball, making snow castles, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, making camp fires, winter camping, hiking and identifying animal tracks.

On behalf of the children, we sincerely thank you for your generosity. Without your help, Children Now would not be able to offer such a wonderful activity to a more than deserving group of underprivileged children. The Snow Camp allows them to enjoy the pleasures of winter and live unforgettable moments they otherwise never would have experienced. Because of our collective effort, they will henceforth have magical childhood memories. Help us carry on this marvelous tradition!

Changes during Covid-19

*UPDATE FEBRUARY 17, 2021* With our Snow Camps approaching ever so quickly, we could not be more delighted to share incredible news with you. We had previously announced modifications to our annual Snow Camps to ensure the safety of those participating. One of those modifications involved providing daily transportation for the children to return for a second day because camps were not providing overnight accommodations during this time. However, the Camp Domaine Scout St-Louis-de-France have just received news that they will now be able to accommodate the children overnight for a 3 day winter camp! Of course, this has been made possible due to the camp’s rigorous health and safety plan. Therefore, a total of 16 children will participate per weekend and will be separated into two groups of eight during the entire weekend. The camps will take place every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as of March 12 and will run until all the sponsored children have participated. Since they will be staying overnight, the children will be receiving three plentiful meals daily and the evening campfires will make a grand return! We can’t thank you enough, our faithful donors and partners, for your continued support in aiding the children of your community during these trying times. The opportunity for the children to escape the stresses of day-to-day life so that they may experience a three day winter camp is surreal for them, now more than ever. Thank you.
